Anna Nordqvist won the Kraft Nabisco Championship on LPGA tour

WHO IS SHE?

Hailed as “England’s best women’s golfer” after qualifying for the Ladies European Tour in 2004, Anna Nordqvist began playing professional golf in 2006. She was one of the more colorful personalities on the European Tour that year, and an e-mail address in her name was visible on a tour calendar. During a British Open qualifiers round in Shetland, she unveiled a short-sleeved white shirt with a cartoon character on the front, and in 2007, she produced a stone sculpture of a nude, female golfer on a pink golf ball, which she said she thought was more like “our book instead of what guys have at home.” Nordqvist soon departed the European Tour for US golf, and she was voted “Belgian Player of the Year” in 2007. When she won the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2009, she became the first woman since Betsy King to win a tour title. She has twice finished in the top five in the Ladies PGA Championship.
